The purpose of the Code is to inform, guide and educate employers, employees and trade unions to understand aspects such as equity, diversity and equal treatment in the workplace so as to eliminate unfair discrimination.

The Technical Assistance Guidelines on the Employment of People with Disabilities is to assist employers, employees, trade unions and persons with disabilities to understand the Employment Equity Act and above mentioned Code by providing guidelines to implement the Act as well as the Code. We have established what must be displayed, but where must they be displayed? It is important that these charts are to be conspicuously displayed in an area that is regularly visited by employees.

A couple of examples of where that could be in your workplace include: designated bulletin boards in the break room, above time clocks in large office spaces, in an employee lounge, in a lunch room, kitchen, in a passage way that all employees need to pass through.

The hope is that this is reviewed and updated in the near future by the Department of Labour, but until then, physical posters and charts are the legal requirement to comply with. Failure to comply with the above mentioned may incur penalties from the Department of Labour.

The charts can be bought from the Government Printers, which are located in Pretoria and Cape Town at marginal rates or can be downloaded from the website of the Department of Labour at www.

The poster can be downloaded and printed off the Department of Labor website. All rights reserved. What Posters Are Required in the Workplace? Share on Flipboard. Share on LinkedIn.
